DealviX shows people deals and short videos from shops near them, and rewards them with points for watching. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It covers the DealviX website and apps.

When you use DealviX we collect:

  • Your account details: name, email address, mobile number, and a password (kept only in scrambled form; nobody at DealviX can read it).
  • Your location, only if you allow it, or a place you choose. See "Your location" below.
  • What you do in DealviX: videos you watch, points you earn and spend, deals you save, like or comment on, shops you follow, reviews, ratings, messages, and friend requests.
  • Your device and internet address when you sign in, so we can show you your signed-in devices, keep your account safe, and spot fraud and abuse.
  • For businesses: the business name, address, hours, pictures, team members, and, to get verified, the owner's ID, a selfie and a business licence or shop photo.
  • To run DealviX: sign you in, show you what is nearby, count your watching, give you points and let you spend them at a shop.
  • To keep it fair and safe: stop fake accounts, repeated reward claims and other abuse, and check that businesses are real.
  • To contact you about your account: text codes to confirm your number, password resets, and notices you choose to receive by email. We do not send marketing texts.
  • To improve DealviX and fix problems.

Shops aim deals and videos at the area around them, so DealviX needs to know roughly where you are to show you the right ones, and where you are when you earn points for watching.

  • DealviX asks for your location only while you use it, never in the background. You decide whether to allow it, and you can turn it off in your browser or phone at any time.
  • Without it you can choose a place to browse (a city, neighbourhood or postcode). Before you share anything, we may guess your city from your internet address, using a database kept on our own servers (see Credits below); the guess is shown as approximate.
  • When you watch a video to earn points, your device's position at the start and the end is checked against the area the video is for, and against signs of a faked location. These checks help keep points fair; suspicious watches are reviewed by DealviX staff.
  • We keep your latest position on your account to show you deals near you; you can clear it in Settings, Location. Positions your device sends are kept for 90 days to check earning and stop abuse, then deleted.
  • Shops never see where you are. They see only totals, such as how many people in an area saw their deal.

Other people see only what your privacy settings allow (for example your name and photo on comments and reviews). A shop sees that you redeemed points at its counter and the amount, but not your phone number or email.

We do not sell your personal information. We use a few companies to run the service, and they handle your information only for us:

  • Twilio, to send and check text codes and to check that a number is a real mobile number.
  • An email delivery service, to send emails to you.
  • Cloudflare, to store pictures, videos and backups, and to run our domain name.
  • Google, for maps and address search. When you search for a place or a shop places its branch, the search and the position are sent to Google.
  • Our server hosting provider.

IDs, selfies and licences sent by businesses are stored privately. Only DealviX staff who check businesses can open them, and each time one is opened it is recorded. They are used only to verify the business.

DealviX uses cookies only to keep you signed in, to remember the place you browse when you are not signed in, and to keep the site working. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is nothing to switch off.

  • Your account information and activity are kept while your account is open, and for as long as we need them to keep points and shop records correct.
  • Text-code records are deleted after a few days, password reset links after a week, and sent emails after about three months.
  • Positions your device sends are deleted after 90 days.
  • Database backups are kept for about 30 days.
  • [Anything else DealviX decides, for example how long records are kept after an account is closed.]

You can change your details, privacy settings and notification settings in Settings, and deactivate your account there.

To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, email us. We will answer within [number] days. [Add any state-specific rights DealviX is required to describe.]

Connections to DealviX are encrypted. Passwords are stored scrambled, private documents are kept apart from public pictures, and access to them is limited and recorded. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at once if you think your account was used by someone else.

DealviX is for people aged [minimum age] and over. We do not knowingly collect information from younger children.
